Local Color
Lafayette Printing Company
Direct Mail Campaign
Lafayette Printing Company wanted to promote their new four-color printing press. Their brand is their locally-owned eminence and attention to quality color and service. Writer Angie Klink, graphic designer Natalie Powell and photographer Phil Prien created the “Local Color” Campaign.
Each direct mail insert features a colorful person from Lafayette, Indiana. Klink wrote a short biography of each person. The sidebar copy ties the featured “local person” with Lafayette Printing and their new printing press. The campaign received several American Advertising Federation ADDY Awards over the course of several years.
People loved the Local Color campaign as those showcased were well-known or quirky staples of the community. The pieces were displayed in offices, pinned to bulletin boards and saved for posterity.
"Fixed"
Lafayette Savings Bank
Postcard, Newspaper & Website Ad
Lafayette Savings Bank wanted a funny ad for use on their website, in the newspaper and as a direct mail postcard that would promote a fixed rate mortgage. Angie Klink thought, Fixed. What else is fixed? - a dog! The rest is gold-ADDY-Award history. Graphic Design by Natalie Powell.
NetLink Technologies
Direct Mail Postcards and Billboard Campaign
Tom Brown of NetLink Technologies wanted an edgy campaign to promote his technology business. He was not afraid to be a bit “out there.” Internet security was one of his company’s tasks. The day Brown was presented with—“We protect your privates”—he read the copy, took off his glasses, wiped his face of perspiration, and laughed. Klink had hit the mark. More edgy copy followed for postcards and billboards. The campaign received an American Advertising Federation gold ADDY and “Best of Show” award.
Holiday Cards
Lafayette Printing Company
25 years of Seasons Greetings
Beginning in 1992, Angie Klink has written an annual holiday card for Lafayette Printing Company to send to their clients. Playing on the company’s “locally owned” brand, each card features a local person, place or thing that resonates with people of the community and beyond.
The card presented at the right showcases the barn at Historic Prophetstown State Park. With each card in the series, Klink writes the copy first and graphic designer Natalie Powell works from the words to create the design. The words “Silver Slumber” lent itself to a shimmery paper stock. This card, and many others crafted for Lafayette Printing, received an American Advertising Federation gold ADDY Award.
